Worlds Strongest Man in extremely High Definition
January 28th, 2015Earlier this year I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Phase One IQ280 camera kit, to photograph the athletes in this years World’s Strongest Man contest. I asked each contestant to growl for the camera and show me their ‘strongman face’. Not everyone growled but I wasn’t going to argue with the strongest men in the world.
My Worlds Strongest Man portraits were published in The Daily Mail Online. December 25, 2014.
Hafthór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson from Iceland. Thor played The Mountain in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Zydrunas Savickas, AKA ‘Big Zee’ from Lithuania.
Terry Hollands from England.
This is a cropped section from Terry’s portrait above. With 80 megapixels, you can see the veins coming off the veins in his eye. You can also see my studio lighting setup.
Eddie Hall from England is a lot friendlier than he looks in this photo.
Gerhard Van Staden from South Africa.
Laurence Shahlaei from the UK.
My lights were maybe a little brighter than Frankie Scheun from South Africa could handle.
Robert Oberst from the USA.
Oyvind Rein from Norway.
Jerry Pritchett from the USA.
Impressive body and the camera ain’t bad either.
After using the 80 megapixel beast, it has left me with a severe case of camera envy. Every assignment I have shot since, I have this overwhelming feeling that it would just look better on a Phase One. I don’t want to bore you with the file size or dynamic range, this is a seriously awesome piece of kit. If you’re in the US and want to get your hands on a Phase One kit, contact Capture Integration.
