The Good Ship John Chapple
September 7th, 2012Not many people are honored by having a boat named after them. Today, there is a boat with my name on it. Vox reported, “At a ceremony this morning, the Royal Gibraltar Police named their new interceptor vessels after two former Governors, Sir Francis Richards and Sir John Chapple”.
In naming one of the vessels, Sir John Chapple described it as ‘A great honor.’ It made him feel ‘very humble’ to see the vessel with his name on it.
OK, so it’s a different John Chapple but we do share the same name, except for the ‘Sir’ part but I’m working on that. I’ve also never been the Governor or visited Gibraltar.
Congratulations to the other John Chapple, um, Sir John Chapple.
